Camas #1 Takes 4th at State!

Camas Varsity #1 made the long trek north to Arlington High School over the weekend to compete in this year’s State Knowledge Bowl Tournament.  Matching up against the best of the best 4A teams in the state, Varsity #1 won their morning bracket (which consists of 50 written questions and four 50 question oral rounds) to advance to the afternoon competition and a chance at winning it all. In the end, though, we came up just a little short, missing out on a chance via the semi-final round to compete for 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place by only three points, but Camas ended up with a solid 4th place, which is quite a remarkable feat by itself.  Camas Varsity #1 is made up of the following students: Jason Kim, Chemay Shola, Calvin Taylor, Noah Thompson, Jesse Lester, and Vincent Wu. Give them a pat on the back for a remarkable season that included their being both League and Region champs.  Nice work, Camas!

Finally, don’t forget about the Knowledge Bowl dessert/awards banquet in the CHS North Commons this next week on Tuesday night, 03/28. We’ll begin having snacks, desserts, and refreshment about 5:30. Awards will start at 6:00. I plan to be pretty brief and hopefully have us out of there between 6:30-6:45 at the latest. FYI, we’ll be handing out about 20 academic letters next week, as well as 30 or so service bars!

If you haven’t signed up yet to bring a sleeve of cookies or some other favorite treat, it’s not too late. A little bit goes a long way if you can help contribute. Sign up here: “Dessert” Sign Up.

Looking forward to celebrating the season with you.
