Camas Knowledge Bowl had a great showing last night, knowledge bowling its way to victory against others from the League in our 2nd Round Robin tournament of the year that was hosted by us here at Camas High School. There were over 150 students and 6 schools involved in this, not including the 30+ adults who volunteered their time/resources to make this possible (see below for a full listing of them …).

Here’s how it played out:

  • Varsity – 1st , 3rd, 5th, 6th, and 7th out of 15.
    • Camas Varsity #1 had an impressive night that earned them first place overall as well as a bunch of other historical firsts. They amassed a whopping 121 points, which since we’ve been keeping records over the last couple of decades appears to be highest total EVER that we can recall!  The next closest varsity score was 28 points behind them, and that was from the impressive Union team that they tied with last month.
    • Last month I also noted that this same team had recorded the highest total score in an oral round that I’ve ever seen, scoring 37 points! Unheard of … we thought. But they even bested that last night, scoring 42 out of 60 points possible in a room with two other teams. Wow!
    • Congrats, Camas Varsity #1!  This team is made up of Monica C., Daniel F., Abbi J., Jesse L., and Noah T.
  • JV – 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th out of 15. They continue to hold the first 5 places in the region out of 39 total JV teams.
    • For JV, the first place winners were, once again, freshmen phenoms JV#3: Ali B., Alex G., Tyler G., Akash P., Ben S., and George W.
    • Had they been competing in Varsity against juniors and seniors mostly, their score from this meet would have earned them a 3rd place finish. Yes, they’re just freshmen.

Congratulations, Camas Knowledge Bowl.  I’ve pasted the complete meet scores in below for your reference if you wanted to see the specifics.  I’m very proud of all them.

Thanks for your continued support,

Coach Greene

P.S.  A special thanks to the Camas community and the staff at CHS who helped make this meet possible by reading, timing, allowing us to use their rooms, etc.  These sorts of activities simply aren’t possible without that support, so a special thanks to them for giving back to the community and helping to provide students with a quality, competitive, team-based activity.  The volunteers are, in no particular order … Liza Sejkora, Tim Fox, Kim Newman, Mike Nerland, Dale Croswell, Sarah Shafer, Bamini Pathmanathan, Shannon Lambert, Hyun Robinson, Bruce Anderson, Linda Kimball, Ron Bright, Bob Harper, Michael Newton, Geoff Thompson, Val McOmie, Omar Sankari, Meredith Studdard, Sarah Warta, Phil Wendell, Diane Anvick, Viv Juras, Terry Juan, Elisa Wells-Moran, Katherine Cochran, Beth Filion, CHS Custodial, Heather Siewert, Joe Farland, Bridget Ellis, Tyler Morgan, Barb Loewen, Jenelee Herz, Julie Cook, Cory Marshall, Ryan Josephson, Dawn Gilbertson, and Sarah Widdop.
